The USB Ranger® product line is designed for end user applications. It provides all the flexibility of extended range USB in a ready-to-use package. The USB Ranger 110/410 is fully compliant with the USB 1.1 Specification and delivers all of the benefits of USB, including remote device powering, plug and play operation, and cross-platform flexibility.

Icron's USB Ranger products operate over standard Category 5 UTP cable (the same wiring used in Ethernet). The technology behind the product, ExtremeUSB®, requires no additional software for either the computer or the target devices.

USB Ranger products are composed of two separate units: the Local Extender (LEX) and the Remote Extender (REX). Conventional USB cables are used to connect the LEX unit to the host computer and to connect one or more remote USB devices to the REX unit. Category 5 UTP cabling is used to connect the LEX and REX units over a distance of up to 100 meters.

The USB Ranger 110/410 products offer the flexibility of locating the power at either the LEX or the REX. Depending on where the power adapter is located, both the USB Ranger 110 and the USB Ranger 410 can support both high-power and low-power USB devices.

AND FINALLY:
The Icron USB Ranger 410 with remote 4-port USB Hub brings to USB the benefits of extended range ExtremeUSB technology.
ExtremeUSB technology is a practical means of extending USB device connections from 10 feet up to 330 feet (100 meters) using a single Category 5 UTP cable (industry standard, dual twist, EtherNet cable).
The Icron's USB Ranger family of products powered by ExtremeUSB technology, enables USB devices such as printers, scanners, and cameras to be positioned in locations critical for numerous business applications.
USB Rangers have two separate units: the Local Extender (LEX - hooks to your computer) and the Remote Extender (REX - hooks to your remote peripherials). Conventional USB cables (included) are used to connect the LEX to the host computer and to connect one or more remote USB devices to the REX.
The LEX and REX units are connected by Category 5 UTP cabling (the same wiring used in shielded twisted pair Ehternet) that can be up to 100 meters long.

More about USB Hubs and also Laptops:

USB Hubs:
What we've found is if the USB hub has a 2.4A power supply then it usually (but not always) has enough juice because the hub's own circuitry takes some current, so if it's only 2.0A or 2.1A, then it doesn't really provide 500mA to each port. The brand " D-Link DSB-H4" is known to have a 2.4A power supply and this is the one we recommend. Just make sure the hub is in self-powered mode and not bus powered.

If they're using a 20' extension from the computer to the hub, it should work. It's not guaranteed because the spec on USB is 16'. However, we have customers using 25' cables with no problem. One thing that we know will not work is using a 20' cable from the hub to the RemoteControl Base. The voltage drops too much for the base.

Laptops:
The thing about laptops is if they go into battery mode, they reduce the power to the USB ports. This can affect the RemoteControl Base. If they can find a hub with a good power supply, I would recommend using one for the second RemoteControl Base/camera as well.   Laptops don't usually have more than 2 USB ports, so they may need to do this anyway.
